POSITION
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Basketball Coach to lead and develop our high school basketball program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coaching student-athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, and promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and academic excellence. The Basketball Coach will guide the team in all aspects of the sport, from skill development to competitive play, while supporting the holistic growth of each student-athlete.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Plan, organize, and execute effective practices, drills, and game strategies that develop players' basketball skills, teamwork, and understanding of the game.
- Plan, and coordinate in conjunction with the Academic Dean, the practice and game schedule for the season.
- Instruct and mentor student-athletes, emphasizing personal development, academic achievement, and positive behavior on and off the court.
- Promote team cohesion, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect both within the team and when interacting with opponents, officials, and fans.
- Analyze performance and provide constructive feedback to players to help them improve their skills and game performance.
- Manage all aspects of game-day operations, including team preparation, strategy implementation, and in-game decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, and school administration regarding team schedules, events, and student-athlete progress.
- Monitor and maintain the physical and mental well-being of all players, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
- Adhere to all school, district, and state athletic policies, including eligibility requirements and safety regulations.
- Act as a positive role model, exemplifying dedication, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience
- In-depth knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and player development.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes while maintaining high expectations for performance and behavior.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all players.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of required background check and safe environment training
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the practice and game schedule.
- 25 years of age or older (CYO Requirement)
- Practices, games, and team activities may take place both indoors and outdoors, often outside of regular school hours.
- The position requires physical activity, including demonstrating skills and techniques during practices and games.
