About Us

“Helping people with neurological conditions gain independence one person, one job, at a time”

Neurology Vocational Services Unit (NVSU) is a vocational rehabilitation program that provides a full range of employment services for individuals living with neurological conditions to support their journey to independence with passion and expertise. NVSU operates at Harborview Medical Center, and is part of the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. NVSU receives support from the non-profit, Neurological Vocational Services, NVS.

Vocational Rehabilitation is a process that helps people with disabilities overcome barriers to employment. The goal is to help people return to work as soon as possible (if it is a result of an injury or medical event), with a job that's compatible with their skill set

NSVU Mission is to provide a full range of employment services for individuals living with neurological conditions, assisting them to lead satisfying and productive lives. Our mission is driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a satisfying and productive life, regardless of their neurological challenges.

The services we provide include: Vocational Evaluations, Job Placement, Job Tryouts, Job Retention, Accommodation consultations.

Our program was established by the late Dr. Robert T. Fraser. Dr. Bob Fraser served as the Clinical Director of NVSU since its inception for over 40 years. His legacy will live on through the work of NVSU.
